The process of changing your thoughts rather than just changing your words, is a simple one: it’s much easier to change what goes on in your head than it is to change how you feel.

Perhaps your unconscious mind does not know the difference between someone who is thinking or saying things about themselves in a positive light, and someone who is being critical and harsh.
